The Masons Arms is an ideal base for exploring the virtually undiscovered county of Northumberland, which boasts one of the most beautiful stretches of English coastline.

The countryside encompasses heather moorland, isolated farmsteads, forests and valleys, and there are castles and battlefields which reflect Northumberland's turbulent past.

Alnwick is an attractive medieval market town famous for its impressive castle which stands majestically by the river Aln. The town, with its ancient town-wall gates and cobbled streets has many buildings of architectural interest.
